This helped draw the first match of the series in Christchurch against New Zealand.The West Indies were bowled out for just 167 in their first innings and were set a very tough target of 531. This was 113 more than the highest successful chase in Test cricket history. New Zealand declared on 466-8.They showed a lot of strength and determination over two days to reach 457-6.Greaves batted for 564 minutes and faced 388 balls in his second Test century. He formed a solid 180-run partnership with Kemar Roach, who hit a career-high 58. New Zealand captain Tom Latham then shook hands with the West Indies, who ended at 457-6.Greaves said, "It was a special day for me and a special day for the team." His innings was praised as a "Herculean effort" by West Indies captain Roston Chase.He added, "Resilience is a word we've talked about a lot in the dressing room. To be there at the end was really important. Anything for the team."Greaves came in at 72-4 on day four and shared a 196-run fifth-wicket partnership with Shai Hope off 384 balls. Hope (140 off 234) and wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach fell before lunch on day five, but Greaves found a great partner in Roach.Roach, called a "modern-day legend" by his captain, scored his first Test half-century and stayed calm for 233 deliveries as they finished the day. He had already taken five wickets in New Zealand's second innings.Jacob Duffy was the best bowler for New Zealand, taking 3-122 with match figures of 8-156. However, the hosts had injuries to Matt Henry and Nathan Smith.The second Test will start in Wellington on 9 December.
