Homes Destroyed Across NSW — Firefighter Killed in Bulahdelah

New South Wales suffered the worst impact, with dozens of fires tearing through:

  • Woy Woy

  • Phegans Bay

  • Koolewong

  • Bulahdelah

Authorities confirmed:

  • 16 homes destroyed in Koolewong

  • 4 homes lost in Bulahdelah, where a firefighter tragically died after being struck by a falling tree.

A government disaster declaration has been made as communities assess the damage.


🚨 60 Fires Still Burning — 9 Uncontained

As of this morning:

  • 60 fires continue to burn across NSW

  • 9 remain uncontained

An evacuation centre has been set up at Gosford RSL, where affected families are receiving support.

Federal Emergency Management Minister Kristy McBain said conditions were “extremely challenging” and expressed sympathy for the communities devastated by the fires.


🌪 Six NSW Areas Declared Natural Disaster Zones

The following local government areas have been officially declared natural disaster zones, unlocking recovery funding under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA):

  • Central Coast

  • Mid Coast

  • Upper Hunter

  • Muswellbrook

  • Warrumbungle

  • Dubbo

This allows residents and businesses to access financial assistance for immediate recovery.

In Tasmania, fires on the east coast destroyed 19 homes, adding to the national emergency as authorities battle strong winds and hot conditions.
